One-Stop (Early) Voting for the 2016 Primary in North Carolina and Caldwell County will begin on Thursday, March 3 and last until Saturday, March 12.
NC Voter I.D. is required to vote in the 2016 primary. For more information on what can be used as an I.D. or how to obtain one, go to the Caldwell County website www.caldwellcountync.org and click on the link on the front page.
Applications for absentee voting may be picked up at the Caldwell County Board of Elections which is located in the Caldwell County Alden E. Starnes Administration Building, at 905 West Ave NW, in Lenoir, or also by going onto the Caldwell County website listed above, choosing departments and clicking on the Board of Elections page. The deadline to apply for the mail out absentee ballots is 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 8.
Citizens may register to vote during One-Stop (Early) voting by registering and voting on the same day.
ONE-STOP VOTING (EARLY VOTING)
One-Stop Voting (early voting) for the primary election will begin on Thursday, March 3and run through Saturday, May 12, including Saturdays but not Sundays.
Hours for One-Stop/Early Voting will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 3 and 4. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, March 5 and 12. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday, March 7 – 11.
There are three locations for One-Stop (Early) Voting. The locations are the City/County Chambers on the first floor of the Caldwell County Alden E. Starnes Administration Building in Lenoir, the Shuford Recreation Center, at 51 Pinewood Road, in Granite Falls and the Caldwell County Public Library Main Branch, located at 120 Hospital Avenue, in Lenoir.
On Election Day, Tuesday, March 15, voters must go to their regular precinct for voting. Polls will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. To find out their precinct, voters should come by or call the Caldwell County Board of Elections at 828-757-1326.
There are four, main ballots for the March primary election; Republican, Democrat, Libertarian and Unaffiliated. Unaffiliated voters may choose which of the ballots they wish to vote. Voters affiliated with the three parties must vote that party’s ballot.
