Finance

The County's Finance Department is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the County in accordance with all applicable local, State and Federal regulations. It maintains the accounts of the County in accordance with generally accepted principles of governmental accounting.

Department Functions

  • Process all departmental requests for payments. Vendor payments are processed three times per month (10th, 20th, and 30th), and average 1200 checks each month
  • Maintenance of fixed asset records
  • Disposal of surplus County assets via website auction
  • Process all revenues received and deposit on a timely basis
  • Reconciliation of all bank accounts
  • Accurate payment of employee payroll funds to approximately 575 full and part-time employees as well as maintaining employee records, processing W2s, and 1099s
  • Preparation of financial reports for Federal, State and other agencies
  • Coordinating annual county audit and preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
  • Investing all idle County funds in accordance with NC. General Statues and management of debt
  • Preparation of County Fiscal Year budgets in conjunction with County Manager
  • Purchasing supplies, materials, products and equipment for the County
