Frequently Asked Questions
- I’m moving into a home that has County water available- what do I need to do?
-
A new customer form will need to be completed and a non-refundable transfer fee of $50 will need to be paid before the bill can be transferred into your name. If you are renting the home, an additional $100 renter deposit will also need to be paid. This money remains on file until you move out of the home and is refundable.
- Once, I’ve paid the necessary fees, when will my water be turned on?
-
If the fees are paid before 3:00 that day, we will attempt to get the water turned on the same day.
- What if I don’t have the money to pay my bill in full, can I set up payment arrangements?
-
Our staff will attempt to assist any customer that cannot pay their full by the due date. Please contact our office at 828-757-5757 to make pay arrangements.
- When is my bill due each month and what is the cut-off policy for nonpayment?
-
Your bill is due 25 days from the billing date. Please check your bill for the exact day or contact our office. If unpaid by due date a late charge of $10.00 will be added to your bill. Any unpaid balance of 45 days will result in removal of meter.
- What happens if my meter is removed for non-payment?
-
The total balance must be paid in order for service to continue and an additional reconnection fee of $50 will be added to your bill.
- If public water is not available to my property, will the County extend the water mainline to my home?
-
The County currently has two approved waterline extension programs, a petitioner's and a developer’s plan. Please contact our office for assistance to see if you may qualify for one of these programs.
