Community Initiatives

Caldwell County EMS is a dedicated partner to the residents and visitors of Caldwell County, and their health. In an effort to better the lives and health of its citizens, Caldwell County EMS has numerous programs in the surrounding community to ensure involvement on a local level with the people we serve.

Prevention & Education Programs

Infant Safety Education

Caldwell County EMS, in partnership with Caldwell County Safe Kids, provides free Infant Safety Education Classes, which provide education on child passenger safety, safe sleep, and infant CPR and choking awareness.

Car Seat Safety Checks

Our Child Passenger Safety program, delivered by the Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office and Caldwell County Safe Kids, has certified car seat technicians who participate in monthly car seat check events. Through this program, you have the opportunity to bring your car seat in to be inspected, ensure it is the correct type of seat, and that it is installed properly in the vehicle. You may also schedule an appointment with a certified technician at the Administrative Offices.

Hands-Only CPR Training

Caldwell County EMS supports the American Heart Association's Hands-Only™ CPR Initiative to increase bystander participation in compression-only CPR. We offer free hands-on classes to schools, businesses, community groups, neighborhood associations, clubs, and organizations of all kinds.

Email Captain Blake Cochran, Training Coordinator to schedule your class to teach your family, friends, and coworkers lifesaving skills in Hands-Only CPR.

EMS Ride-Along Program

Caldwell County EMS offers a free EMS Ride-Along Program to learn about careers in Emergency Medical Services through classes and ambulance ride-alongs. These ride-alongs are available for any active student, 16 years or older, with a letter of recommendation from his or her school principal, and for any individual age 18 years or older. Prospective riders are required to fill out the request form found here.

Special Events

Caldwell County EMS strives to involve the community in their own safety, through education and prevention, but also by encouraging bystanders to become involved when an incident happens. Booths and presentations highlight methods to teach lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child, and infant victims. Visitors also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults, and breathing difficulties in children, as well as learn more about their local EMS agency and its capabilities.
